NJ STATEWIDE + NATIONWIDE PROJECTS

General

What areas of New Jersey do you serve?

We’re based in Mountainside, NJ and serve homes and businesses statewide — Union, Bergen, Hudson, Essex, Morris, Somerset, and Middlesex counties and beyond. For multi-site, franchise, and larger commercial clients, our project teams handle installations and rollouts nationwide.

Do you work with both homes and businesses?

Yes. Roughly half our work is residential — home theaters, whole-home audio, smart automation, cameras, and alarms — and half is commercial, from single storefronts to multi-site franchise rollouts. The same engineering standard applies to both.

How does the process work, from first call to finished system?

Every project follows the same four steps: a free consultation and site survey, an engineered design with a fixed itemized quote, professional installation that’s clean and documented, and long-term local support after the job. One team owns every step, so nothing falls between vendors.

Are you licensed and insured in New Jersey?

Yes. Tristate Technology Solutions is fully licensed and insured for low-voltage and security work in New Jersey, and every installation is performed to code with proper permitting where required.

Can one company really handle cameras, networking, AV, and phones?

That’s exactly the point. These systems all run on the same network infrastructure, so splitting them across vendors is where projects go wrong. As a single accountable integrator, we design them to work together — and when you need help, there’s one number to call: (877) 376-2288.

Do you offer support after installation?

Always. Every system we install is backed by our local NJ support line, and clients can add managed service plans with proactive monitoring, firmware updates, and priority response. We support systems for their entire working life.

Cameras & Surveillance

Do you install security cameras for both homes and businesses?

Yes. We design and install video surveillance for residential properties, small businesses, restaurants, retail chains, offices, and industrial facilities throughout New Jersey.

Can I view my cameras from my phone?

Absolutely. Our cloud-based and NVR systems include mobile apps for iOS and Android, so you can view live and recorded video from anywhere in the world.

Can you upgrade my existing analog CCTV system?

In most cases, yes. We frequently migrate legacy analog systems to modern IP video, often reusing existing coax or cabling infrastructure to keep costs down.

What is monitored video surveillance?

With CHeKT video monitoring, alarm events are instantly verified against live camera views by monitoring professionals, who can issue audible warnings and dispatch police with confirmed video evidence — faster response and far fewer false alarms.

Alarms & Monitoring

Can you take over or upgrade my existing alarm system?

Yes — we take on virtually any system. We frequently take over existing panels and sensors, upgrading them to modern 2GIG or Qolsys IQ smart panels on the Alarm.com platform while reusing sound infrastructure where possible.

Will I get alerts on my phone?

Yes. The Alarm.com app sends instant push notifications for alarms, arming events, and even specific doors or zones you want to watch.

Does the alarm still work if my internet goes down?

Yes. We install systems with dual-path communication — cellular plus broadband — so your alarm keeps reporting to the monitoring center even if your internet or power is cut.

Can Alarm.com protect against fire and water damage too?

Absolutely. We add monitored smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, water leak sensors, and temperature sensors to the same system — including walk-in cooler and freezer monitoring for restaurants.

Access Control

What happens if an employee loses their keycard?

With modern access control, you simply deactivate the lost credential from the management portal in seconds — no re-keying locks or replacing hardware.

Can access control work with my security cameras?

Yes. We routinely integrate access events with video surveillance so each entry is paired with recorded footage for verification and audit purposes.

How much does an access control system cost?

A single-door cloud-managed system typically starts around the low thousands installed, with per-door pricing decreasing as door count grows. Brivo and Alarm.com platforms carry a modest monthly subscription for cloud management. We quote precisely after a free site walkthrough of your doors and hardware.

Can employees use their phones instead of keycards?

Yes. Both Brivo and Alarm.com support mobile credentials, letting staff unlock doors with their smartphone or smartwatch. Mobile credentials can’t be loaned or copied like cards, and issuing or revoking them takes seconds from the management portal.

Apartments & Multifamily

Can you retrofit access control in an occupied apartment building?

Yes — occupied-building retrofits are one of our specialties. We phase the work door by door so residents never lose access, migrate tenants from metal keys or legacy fobs to new credentials in managed batches, and complete lobby, garage, and amenity doors with no resident downtime. Cloud platforms like Brivo need no on-site server — just power, network, and door hardware.

Can you replace an old apartment intercom with a video intercom?

Yes. We replace aging voice-only intercoms with modern video intercom entry systems that call a resident’s smartphone, so tenants can see visitors and unlock the door from anywhere. In many buildings we can reuse existing riser pathways, which keeps retrofit costs down.

How do residents get access credentials — and what happens at move-out?

Residents can use mobile credentials on their phone, fobs, or keycards — whatever the property prefers. Management issues and revokes credentials from a cloud portal in seconds, so move-ins and move-outs no longer mean re-keying locks or chasing down keys.

What camera coverage does an apartment building typically need?

Most multifamily properties cover the lobby and entrances, parking areas, package room, elevators, and amenity spaces like gyms and lounges. We design coverage during a free site survey, and cloud video management lets property managers review footage for any incident from anywhere — a major liability reducer.

Do you work with property managers and HOAs or only developers?

Both. We wire new multifamily developments during construction, and we work directly with property management companies and HOA boards on upgrades to existing buildings — access control, cameras, intercoms, package room security, and amenity Wi-Fi — with proposals suitable for board review and budgeting.

Audio / Video & Control

Do you handle both residential and commercial AV?

Yes. We install home theaters and whole-home audio for residences, and commercial sound, video, and control systems for restaurants, bars, offices, and retail throughout NJ.

What is an RTI control system?

RTI is a professional control platform that unifies all your AV — and optionally lighting, shades, and climate — behind one custom-programmed remote, keypad, touch panel, or app. We design, program, and support RTI systems as an authorized dealer.

Can you hide all the wires?

Yes — clean installation is a point of pride. We fish cabling through walls and ceilings, use in-wall rated wire, and leave every TV, speaker, and equipment rack looking factory-clean, whether it’s a living room or a 40-seat sports bar.

How much does a whole-home or commercial audio system cost?

Residential multi-room audio typically starts in the low thousands for a few zones and scales with room count and speaker quality. Restaurant and bar systems are engineered per space — zone count, acoustics, and control needs drive the price. Every project starts with a free consultation and a fixed, itemized proposal.

Networking, Wi-Fi & IT

Can you fix Wi-Fi dead zones in my building or home?

Yes. We perform a wireless survey to map coverage, then install properly placed enterprise access points to deliver strong signal wall-to-wall.

Why do you recommend Ubiquiti UniFi?

UniFi delivers enterprise-grade networking — gateways, switches, Wi-Fi, and unified management — without recurring licensing fees. We deploy the complete suite so your entire network is managed from one dashboard.

What does a managed service plan include?

Plans are tailored to your systems, but typically include health monitoring, firmware updates, periodic on-site inspections, and priority scheduling for service calls.

Do you set up guest Wi-Fi for businesses?

Yes. We deploy branded guest networks with captive portals, bandwidth limits, and full isolation from your business systems — a must for restaurants, retail, offices, and waiting rooms.

Cabling & Fiber

Do you certify and document your cabling work?

Yes. Every cable run is tested, certified, labeled, and documented — you receive test results and as-built documentation for your records.

Do you work with general contractors on new construction?

Regularly. We coordinate with GCs, electricians, and architects on new builds and renovations across NJ, delivering low-voltage rough-in through trim-out on schedule.

How much does structured cabling cost per drop?

Cable-drop pricing varies with distance, pathway difficulty, and cable grade (Cat6, Cat6A, fiber), but volume matters — per-drop cost falls significantly on larger projects. We provide fixed per-drop and project pricing after a walkthrough, with certification testing included.

VoIP Phone Systems

Why go through a partner instead of signing up with RingCentral directly?

Partner pricing is typically the same or better, and you gain local design, installation, and support. We configure your call flows, install and test every phone on site, verify your network is VoIP-ready, and remain your first call for support — instead of a national help desk.

Can you keep our existing phone numbers?

Yes. We manage number porting to RingCentral or TeleCloud as part of every deployment, typically with zero downtime for your business.

Which platform is right for my business — RingCentral or TeleCloud?

RingCentral is a market-leading cloud platform ideal for businesses wanting best-in-class apps and integrations; TeleCloud offers white-glove, locally supported VoIP with flexible plans. As partners of both, we’ll assess your call flows, headcount, and budget and recommend honestly.

Cyber Security

My business is small — do I really need cyber security?

Yes. Small businesses are targeted precisely because they’re less defended, and attacks are automated — they don’t care about company size. A properly configured firewall, segmented network, and basic endpoint protection dramatically reduce your risk at a very reasonable cost.

Can you secure the cameras and devices you install?

Absolutely — and the ones we didn’t install, too. We harden camera systems, IoT devices, and network equipment with strong credentials, current firmware, and isolated network zones so they can’t be used as entry points.

Do you help with PCI compliance for restaurants and retail?

Yes. We build PCI-compliant network segmentation for POS environments, deploy business-grade firewalls, and document your network so compliance questionnaires stop being a guessing game.

Video Walls & Signage

Can you install digital menu boards for my restaurant?

Yes — it’s one of our specialties. We handle display selection, mounting, wiring, and content platform setup, with experience across single locations and multi-site chains.

Do you provide the signage content software?

Yes. We deploy digital signage platforms with easy web-based content management, so your team can update menus, promotions, and playlists from any browser — no technical skills required.

How much does a video wall cost?

Video wall pricing depends on panel count, panel type (commercial LCD vs. direct-view LED), and processing requirements. A 2×2 commercial display wall starts in the mid four figures installed; large-format LED walls are quoted per project. We design to your space and budget after a free consultation.

Smart Home & Automation

Can you integrate systems from different brands into one app?

Yes — that’s the point of professional integration. Platforms like RTI unify lighting, AV, climate, security, and more into one clean interface, regardless of brand.

Can automation be added to an existing home?

Absolutely. Wireless lighting, smart thermostats, locks, and retrofit shading mean most automation can be added without opening walls — though we’ll always recommend wired infrastructure where it makes long-term sense.

How much does home automation cost?

Automation scales to your goals — a smart lighting and thermostat package starts modestly, while whole-home systems with integrated audio, shades, and theater run higher. We design in phases so you can start with the rooms that matter most and expand over time.
